Meagher Racing claim Group 1 Oakleigh Plate

John & Chris Meagher celebrated their first Group 1 win as a partnership when Linda Meech led from start to finish on the speedy PUPPIE in Saturday’s Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. The chestnut mare has now won five from her nine starts and is bound for the William Reid Stakes next.

The winning run of Grahame Begg’s stable and in particular his star mare MISS SISKA continued when Damian Lane and the daughter of So You Think remained unbeaten this campaign with a win in the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes. The afternoon also saw more success for two great clients, Roll The Dice and Mick Price Racing when the team combined with HE’LL HAUNT US who under a brilliant Damien Oliver ride won the Zedative Stakes.

A wet track in Sydney was just what MUSTAJEER required at Rosehill when the Ebor Handicap winner won his first race since contesting the Melbourne Cup in the Parramatta Cup.

A $51 winner came the way of Ryan Balfour when BLUDOG at just his second start came from the tail of the field to round up his rivals at massive odds at Morphettville on Saturday. Michael Hickmott’s LADY BETHANY was better fancied when scoring later in the program under the guidance of Anna Jordsjo first-up from a spell – with his stablemate finishing third.

Later in the day across in Perth, WATCH ME DANCE was an impressive two-year-old winner in the tightest of photo finishes now making it two wins from three starts for the daughter of I’m All The Talk. Later in the day the Gangemi Racing team put the polish on SHINJU who has now won two races for the stable since moving from Sydney.

Lastly in the ACT on Friday, the weekend started the right way for the Snowden Racing team with a doubke thanks to BARACUS and AFTERMATH giving Christian Reith a race to race double for the stable while Keith Dryden broke through with stable newcomer SHENANDOAH.
