Avoca review
- Hells Son broke through for the second win of his career under a ripping ride from apprentice Brittany Button at Avoca on Saturday. Button and the three-year-old gelding found cover mid-field before swooping on the turn to take out race eight’s 0-58 handicap (1300m) in a close finish.
- Chairman’s Choice ran well in race six’s benchmark 64 to finish second but was five lengths behind the convincing winner in Sutadamu.

Weekend ahead

Holbrook (Saturday)
- ADR will head to Holbrook’s cup meeting tomorrow (Saturday) with four runners accepted along with four emergencies.
- In the Holbrook Cup (1400m) Chairman’s Choice and Confessed both go in as live chances. Chairman’s Choice has started his prep in fine fashion with a win and second place finish from his two starts, while after a fifth-place finish in the Tocumwal Cup first-up, Confessed heads with a strong second up record having won twice and placed once from five starts.
Albury (Monday)
- Shooting For Stars and Sheila will go to Albury on Monday, both featuring in race four’s benchmark 66 (1000m). Shooting For Stars will be gunning for his third win since joining the stable four starts ago and looks a solid chance having won at Albury in his second start back. Both horses have drawn wide gates (10 for Shooting For Stars, nine for Sheila).
