The Late Mail...

Around the traps...

Above - Two great supporters of RTD Brenda and Peter McElvogue toughed it out at a cold and wintery Sale to see Tietar break her maiden. Nothing like that winning feeling hey guys!

We were back with a bang on the track last week with 6 runners and a good win from Tietar on Sunday (above), and a bit stiff with a couple of others.  Tietar looks a nice filly who has taken time and we will now step her up to 2000m at Flemington in a couple of weeks. We will have another 5 runners this week all over Victoria and New South Wales, so let's hope the recent run of winners continues.

The winter race series at VRC is building momentum and the VRC team in conjunction with their catering partner Crown are introducing a Wine and Dine Series in The Byerley restaurant. On 20th July Executive Chef at Flemington Josh Pelham will be constructing a seasonal six course degustation menu with matching Penfolds wines for each course. If you are a VRC member and interested in attending, get in touch with Rob who is assembling a crew for our RTD alumni.

Another reminder that the RTD open day is coming together nicely. This year we are visiting Pinecliff on Monday 10th June with Sam Freedman and the team at their stables at Mornington. See below article for all the details!

RTD's class of 2024 are off to school...

The education process of RTD’s class of 2024 has begun and Steve spent some time with Bruce O’Dell and the team.

Our current yearlings or soon to be 2YO’s in August: Justify colt, Highland Reel colt and our Blue Point filly are currently going through their paces.

It’s an extensive process where trust is the key between equine and human. Gain the trust of the horse and the process becomes seamless.

Steve took some great footage of our babies so click the pic below and check out the techniques the team use to educate the future champions of the turf.

This Colt is Born to Run!

Above - This colt is ready to go!

The son of Churchill, this colt is born to run. Fast. Churchill, the fastest son of Galileo, won 7 straight races as a 2 and 3 year old, 4 of them Group 1s.

Churchill's sire, Galileo, was a 12 x champion sire with 99 group 1 winners, and 24 sons and 33 daughters of Galileo have produced group 1 winners world wide.

Churchill's full sister was crowned Champion 2YO filly in Europe, winning a Group 1, 2, and 3. Churchill's full brother was a Stakes winner and multiple Stakes place getter. Another full brother is also a Stakes winner.

The pedigree of this family is incredible.

We love the Churchills. We love them so much that 3 years ago we bid to our limit on a colt but were sadly the underbidder to Mitch Freedman. That colt was Attrition, who would go on to become Churchill's first Group 1 winner in Australia.

We loved Attrition so much, that even though we knew he would never race in our colours, with tears in our eyes we still convinced our wives to buy shares with Mitch Freedman.

When we say we love the Churchills, we mean we really love the Churchills.

Well, we love this guy, also a son of Churchill. Jeremy Rogers loved him from the moment he laid eyes on him.

If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times. Jeremy Rogers has an eye for finding those champion racehorses who've somehow slipped through the sales' ring cracks. He found Anjana, a plain little grey chestnut filly for just $32K, and she went on to win almost 10x her purchase price in prize money.

Well now he's found this guy, a grey chestnut colt, a son of Churchill for only $35K, and we feel like the cats that got the cream. With his pedigree, and a few significant wins under his belt, he will be worth a lot more than that.

Churchill has already produced 2 Group 1 winners and 15 stakes winners in the UK and France. In Australia, he's produced a Group 1 winner, 4 stakes winners and 5 stakes place getters. It's just a matter of time before these numbers continue to build. When they do, you won't be able to buy into Churchills at this price again.

This is your chance.

He's a different colour to Churchill, but has the same imposing physique, the same round rump and the same barrel chest. We are rapt to say he's ours, and even prouder to say, this son of Churchill will race in our colours.

If you love the rags to riches stories, this is where it starts.

Only 30% remaining at a cost of only $2,600 for 5% all inclusive.

You do the math.

Last Week's Runners..

It was a good weekend for owners of Tietar as she finally broke her maiden impressively in a 1744m at Sale on Sunday. She had to do it the hard way from the back and she finished strongly to salute by a small margin. It's the confidence builder she needed and we can't wait to keep stepping her out in distance. She will now go to a 3YO fillies race at Flemington over 2000m and make her presence felt again.

Our Silver Linings also went around at Sale on Sunday in a BM58 over 1000m. It was a forget run as she jumped well from the wide barrier but we elected to go back and there was no real speed in the race. Having said that she raced a bit tired and looked like she was ready for a break. She has done a great job this prep and with a nice break we will see further improvement.

Crux went to  Casterton on Sunday in a BM58 over 2000m. This too was a forget run, drawing the inside we were pushed a pair back further than we would have liked and he was hemmed in the whole way. He is a horse that builds momentum and although he got out late, the race was over. It was still a good performance and he is going well for upcoming hurdles.

Keefy's Bro went around at Stawell on Monday in a maiden over 1300m. He went really well to run a strong second. Unfortunately, the favourite was just too hard to beat on a day that suited leaders on the fence. He is a horse that will improve next time out and we are trying to notch up a win before sending him to the paddock. Maddie will have an update shortly to see if he has one more run left in him or not.

Lacemaker was very disappointing at Ballarat on Tuesday in an 1100m F&M BM58. On face value she looked to race very plain and a vet examination post race found an internal bleed which justifies the poor run. We feel a change of scenery is what she needs and she is being moved to Maddie Raymond in Warrnambool. Maddie has had great success with our mares.

Unthinkable went around on Wednesday at  Bendigo in a BM70 Vobis race over 1600m and from the wide draw we went back expecting speed in the race but they dropped anchor and walked. With nowhere to go on straightening she was held up and only got going late. Without a turn of foot she worked to the line well. She is ticking over really well and we will find a race where she can get to the front and dictate.

This Week's Runners...

Mahrez was saved from returning last week due to a wide gate and will instead kick off on Friday at Geelong in a 1543m BM64. As stated last week he had a little virus a few weeks ago but is in great form now and Lindsey is rapt with him. He has drawn ok in barrier 8 and Tom Madden takes the ride. If he gets luck at the right time we think he will be hard to beat.

On Sunday English Gambler goes around at  Woodville in a 3000m Open Hurdle. He was super last start carrying a big weight to victory comfortably by over 3 lengths. If he gets his way in front and doesn't work too hard in the run the extra 200m shouldn't worry him too much and as long as the track doesn't get too wet have a bet!

Mia Toretto will finally make her debut on Sunday at Ballarat over 1200m in a 3YO maiden. She has had a couple of minor issues and trainer Archie Alexander has waited until she is 110% ready to go. She gets the services of Dean Yendall first up and from barrier 8 we won't be pushing her along too much early and will have her hitting the line late. Good luck to all her patient owners.

Next Wednesday we will see Presser have his first run in Sydney in a BM72 over 1550m at  Canterbury. In chasing wet tracks he is now trained by Matthew Smith in Sydney and this race looks ideal for him. He is now looking for further and track conditions are currently soft 6. He trialled earlier this week and went well so let's hope the change of scenery gets the result we are looking for.

On Thursday we see the return of Motitsi at Pakenham over 1200m in a BM64. She had a very good prep last time out and has enjoyed a nice break and has furnished into a lovely mare now. First up we are hoping to draw a nice gate and be positive with her. She usually takes a run or two to show her best but with luck in running we expect a forward showing.

Bear's Best Bets for the Weekend!

Bit stiff last week was the big bear... He declared I Wish I Win and he was good but just went down to Bella Nipotina as his best of the day, some say the fav was too close and left a sitting duck. While the best each way of the day Excelleration went so close at the nice each way odds to finish a close third and provide a return for his loyal supporters.

Lets see how he goes this week.

Best of the day -Sandown  - Race 4 no 1 Fasuto

Fasuto is second up on Saturday after a big win first up over the same distance - 5 furlongs. On Saturday, steps up from 70 grade to 78 grade but that is offset by a 1kg drop in weight. Looks a progressive 1000m sprinting type & happy to be with it. Fasuto beat Title Fighter last start who has subsequently won at Flemington, so the form has been franked. Fasuto is the best bet of the day! Win  @ $4.60

Each Way Sandown - Race 9 no 15 Belle Et Riche Found some value in R9 at Sandown. Belle Et Riche had no chance last start during the Warrnambool May Carnival where the track was playing leaderish. Last prep was beaten less than 2 lengths in a G2 over 7 furlongs. So I think over her pet distance, she will get track conditions to suit on Saturday. Irish Johnny Allen in the saddle - the hoop change could be the key to find her best form. The dangers are Rheinberg & Le Ferrari who have run well against Chorlton Lane previously & there has been some strong support for the French import; Cawdor who is having their first run in Aus.  Small each way bet. Each way  @ $7 & $2.60

Good punting!
