News
Limited shares remaining in our READY TO RACE tried horse out of NZ! WILLIAM! When our Bloodstock Agent, Lenny Russo of Bluegrass Bloodstock, is scouring the form across the ditch in search of his next NZ star, he's not only looking for the best possible form lines at a budget price, but also considering every possible percentage of opportunity for improvement, and that is what he has found in droves with WILLIAM!
WILLIAM (NZ) finished 3rd, just 1.2L shy of Mr Mojo Risin' (NZ), at Avondale just two starts back, and was certainly not disgraced on this occasion, jumping from the carpark draw of barrier 14, and having to burn the candle at both ends of the race. Mr Mojo Risin' (NZ) subsequently arrived in Australia for a winter campaign in VIC Metro grade, where he has already finished 2nd just 0.2L back in an $80K BM78 at Sandown. He has accepted for the $150K Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington tomorrow and is a fantastic each-way chance! You simply can't buy tried horses like this in Australia with city class form without paying enormous overs!
WILLIAM (NZ) was previously trained out of the modest Pukekohe Park Training Facility which boasts an inside sand & grass track, and the course proper. Between working out on the track he spent his time out in a day yard in the elements. William has had two weeks of many firsts, arriving wide eyed and bushy tailed after jet setting his way to Melbourne and having never seen a walker, swimming pool, stable, or a large number of the world-class tracks and facilities on offer at the Cranbourne Training Complex. He was in need of a little TLC and was overdue to see a dentist & the farrier. When looking to purchase a tried horse, their level of ability is generally available for everyone to see if their previous race starts, so you are forever considering all opportunities for improvement. Whether it be just a change of scenery, a slightly weaker jurisdiction, alternative training options, or just the little one-percenters like a bit of TLC. When considering the above and how the horse has impressed the stable in all that he has done so far, and taken the complete change of scenery and training methods in his stride, we can already see that there are certainly plenty of opportunities for improvement here!
Lenny also has a pretty handy strike rate when it comes to securing tried horses out of NZ, sourcing multiple stakes winners and a combined total of over $2.2M in prizemoney, MOSS 'N' DALE (NZ) (multiple stakes winner & All Star Mile runner), COUNT DA VINCI (NZ) (multiple stakes winner), SECOND SLIP (NZ) (Listed winner & G1 runner) & OPEN MINDED (NZ) (Listed winner). Just to name a few!
WILLIAM (NZ) is scheduled to head to a jump out this Monday morning the 3rd of July at Cranbourne on the synthetic and will have his race debut for his new ownership group mid-July! Get involved today and be back at the races in only a few short weeks!

Updates
It has been a busy month for the team at TR with 6 of our 8 horses returning to work in the past couple of weeks!
Our Magnus x Desert Pegasus & U S Navy Flag x Entirely Saintly colt returned to the stable together a tick under 3 weeks ago and have both the team at TR and the stable very excited. They both spelled exceptionally well and look absolutely fantastic. The Magnus filly is a little pocket rocket and looks our best chance of an early 2YO and with how the U S Navy Flag colt has returned we are certainly not ruling him out either! The goal this prep is to get them both to an early 2YO jump out at Cranbourne and allow the horses to do the talking on whether they are ready to head to the races or whether they would benefit from being tucked away until the Autumn. Magnus is a fantastic bread and butter stallion in Australia and has 4 individual G1 winners, and 14 millionaires on his CV. U S Navy Flag has already amassed stakes winners out of his first crop in Ireland, France, the UK, the US, and NZ. The stallion was purchased from Coolmore by The Oaks Stud in NZ, which is now looking like a savvy acquisition!
Rambition is currently 5 weeks into his 8 week break out at Clifford Hill and like the Magnus filly & U S Navy Flag colt has spelled exceptionally well! Whilst the first crop of Supido's have been jumping out of the ground as 3YOs we're certainly not ruling out getting this colt to the races as soon as he has shown us that he is ready. Widden Stud recently doubled the sire's fee for the 2023 breeding season and this colt was the highest rated horse that we have ever encountered on TrueNicks by some margin!
Our Pierata x So Far Sokool filly has just arrived at Patrick Kearney's on course Ballarat stable after completing a short stint with Tyler Aitken. She spent 3 weeks with Tyler to pick up where she left off last preparation and to further her education. She is in fantastic order and we look forward to finally being able to put together some promo footage of her out on the track in the coming weeks. The first crop of Pierata progeny have been rated extremely highly and will start to hit the racetrack in the Spring. Yulong Stud have shown confidence in his stock and have retained his $44K stud fee for the 2023 breeding season. She was a steal at just 50k!
The D'argento x Miss Entice colt has completed his breaking in preparation and will be transported to the paddock in the coming days. He commenced his education straight from the sales complex and has taken everything in his stride. The ownership group have already submitted their name suggestions and will commence voting tonight. We will hopefully be able to reveal his racing name in the next edition of our newsletter!
I'm Airborne commenced his pre training a tick under 4 weeks ago with Ben O'Farrell down in Geelong and will make his return to Warrnambool in the next 2-3 weeks. He closed out his last preparation with a strong showing at his first official jump out, reeling in the field after missing the start to finish just a lip away from winning his heat. The Wilde Racing stable rate him highly and we hope to have him featuring in the Spring in only a few short months!
Paulartes was recently transferred to the Sparta Racing stables in Cranbourne after a 6 and a half week break and is now back in work. She had absolutely no luck last preparation for her incredibly patient ownership group, and we are looking forward to getting her back to the races and letting the filly show us what we know she is capable of in the Spring! She has always received nothing but praise from anyone that has jumped on her back so it's fantastic to get her back in a couple weeks early with plenty of opportunities in Spring now back on the table.
William (NZ) arrived in Melbourne on the 14th of June after already having two promising starts this preparation back in NZ. He enjoyed a couple of quiet days in the stable before returning back to full work and is right on track for his jump out at Cranbourne on the synthetic on Monday. We'll be looking for a suitable 4YO & Up maiden over 5-6 furlongs this month, preferably on a rain affected track, and will hope to knock over his maiden early for a quick return to his new ownership group! Buy a share in William today and be back at the races in just 2-3 weeks time! Shuriken (Absolute Sunshine H.K) is looking like he might have his Hong Kong debut next month! He is keeping me on my toes at the moment refreshing his page 30 times a day as there are now only 3 more meetings without acceptances before they close out their racing season. Fingers crossed that we will be able to get the ownership group back together to cheer him home in the coming weeks!
Highlights
We're cheating for our highlight this month with it actually taking place tomorrow! The Behind The Barriers charity boxing event takes places tomorrow at the Melbourne Pavilion and our Bloodstock Agent, Lenny Russo of Bluegrass Bloodstock, is throwing on the gloves to support this great cause.
If you don't have anything on tomorrow night, or are looking for something to do after the races at Flemington, please come on over and support the event. You don't need to be a fan of boxing to have a great time and there will be famous jockeys, trainers, and racing participants stepping into the ring.
There are still general admission tickets available for $70/person. We will be there with a couple of owners so if you are interested in popping in it will be great to catch up for a beer!
